For the WVAC-2024, SAVA launches a call for Scientific Committee members to be involved in the development of the Scientific Programme of the congress.

The role of the WVAC-2024 Scientific Committee (SC) is to plan, direct, and supervise the Congress’ scientific programme, develop the overall Congress schedule, review and rate submitted oral and poster abstracts, the call for sessions and papers, proposed technical workshops and plenary sessions, and suggest and help implement ways to increase the Congress’ appeal .

The Committee will have a chair and 3 leaders of the following three tracks: Clinical Practice, Public Health and Academic track (the track themes may be changed). Preferably, the leaders of the 3 tracks will be veterinary scientists and/or veterinary clinicians – with a good local and international network and overview of important developments in these areas.

As a member of the SPC of a specific stream within the congress, you will be reviewing several abstracts, depending on the number of abstracts submitted for the stream you are involved in. The whole review process is double blind and works through a swift, easy-to-use digital platform. The system ensures you do not get to review abstracts from your colleagues, who work in the same institution/university, nor do you get to review your own abstracts.

Procedure

Candidates who meet the predefined criteria (see below) can send in their application via the application form from 17 January until 28 February 2023. The stream leaders of each stream, who will be appointed by the LOC, will decide on the composition of their Scientific Committee. Geographical spreading of SC members will be taken into account. All candidates will be notified of this decision by 13 March 2023 latest.

  • Fully paid SAVA member
  • Doctoral level or equivalent*
  • Peer reviewed publications (advantageous)
